Considered one of the top hospitals in the nation, St. Vincent sets a high standard for clinical excellence while providing compassionate care.
With over 500 beds, St. Vincent Medical Center is Providence's largest facility in Oregon. St. Vincent offers a wide range of highly regarded specialty care programs including the Providence Stroke Center and the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute. Built in the 1970s, the main hospital building required renovations which included seismic upgrades and a new exterior façade.
As a pre-construction trade partner and under a design-assist delivery method - we performed mechanical replacement and upgrades on five floors of the main patient tower - while maintaining active facility operations during construction. Every precaution was taken to minimize impact on patients and staff as we completed our work. We provided detailed BIM modeling, developed and implemented a utility shutdown plan, and performed offsite prefabrication services.

We selected and installed a 100% OSA Air Handling Unit and VRF system consisting of multiple air condensing units, fan coil units, and heat recovery boxes. We also installed duct, refrigerant piping, and plumbing - including CryoVent duct for laser eye equipment.

LOCATION
Vancouver, Washington
STATUS
Completed: 2018
It takes the highest level of care and skill to successfully conduct occupied medical facility renovation and construction work.
Founded in 1858, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is a 450-bed community hospital. Serving Clark County, the Medical Center houses a 24-hour Emergency Department and a wide variety of specialty services for the 280,000 patients that visit annually.
We installed a 1,000-ton water cooled chiller plant replacement including pumps and piping, a 1,200 ton cooling tower yard replacement - including structural and piping, two 80,000 CFM AHU replacements, compounding pharmacy USP 800 upgrades and AHU installation. This project included a 275-foot run of 6 ft. x 3 ft. supply and return ductwork to provide an intertie and air system back feed between air handling units - which allowed for the building to stay occupied during the equipment and shaft duct work replacement.
Our work was performed in collaboration with the user groups, facility managers and the design engineers to minimize impact to patients and staff. We spent six months in site coordination developing detailed utility shutdown plans, project sequencing, safety and crane plans, including contingent weather. We also performed offsite prefabrication to minimize risk, eliminate unknowns, and ensure adherence to the construction schedule.
