A state-of-the-art modern building, the Multnomah County Courthouse is a graceful addition to Portland’s Historic Waterfront Skyline.
The original Multnomah County Courthouse (MCCH) was finished in 1914, and after a century of population growth and new code building standards, it was time for an upgrade. The courthouse is an essential facility for the city’s day-to-day judicial operations and must be functional even in the event of a major catastrophe. The new 460,000 sq. ft. 18-story courthouse building was completed in Fall 2020.
This courthouse presented several unique challenges; a high-rise with Just-in-time delivery requirements in a very busy urban environment. Our BIM team ensured a perfect fit with LOD 300 & 400 drawings. Our work included VAV, chilled beam, and radiant floor HVAC systems. The systems we installed supported an environmentally conscious approach to the project. LEED Platinum certified, the Multnomah County Courthouse is a testament to the city’s commitment to sustainability and Total’s commitment to quality work.

Charged with the care and maintenance of Oregon's roads and transportation systems - ODOT was founded in 1913.
Based in Oregon's capitol city of Salem, ODOT’s headquarters required significant updates and modernization to accommodate the department’s requirements, including seismic and mechanical upgrades. All renovations were completed with respect to the facility’s historical precedence and sustainability goals.
Originally built in the 1950s - this LEED Platinum 5-story, 147,000 sf complete interior remodel added mechanical ventilation and cooling to the historic building that was never designed to fit these systems. The mechanical solutions included a water-based heating and cooling system piped to radiant panels at the ceiling level. Ventilation air is supplied by small ducts that move only 1/10th of the air volume of a conventional system. Designed with sustainability in mind, one of the most impressive sustainable features of the building reduces water consumption by using filtered rainwater to flush toilets. All work was completed in tandem with seismic upgrades.
